Bombay HC extends Sameer Wankhede's interim protection from arrest

| @indiablooms | Nov 29, 2023, at 05:04 am

Mumbai/IBNS/UNI: The Bombay High Court Tuesday extended the interim relief from arrest granted to IRS officer and former NCB zonal director Sameer Wankhede till January 10 in an alleged extortion and bribery case registered by the CBI.

The CBI had registered the case against Wankhede for allegedly demanding Rs 25 crore not to include the name of Aryan Khan, son of Bollywood actor Shah Rukh Khan, in the Cordelia cruise drug bust case.

Earlier in May the high court had granted Wankhede interim protection from coercive action.

The court was hearing a petition filed by Wankhede seeking quashing of the CBI case against him alleging that he was being targeted.

During the day's hearing, the bench adjourned the matter and said that it would hear the plea on January 10 and 11.
