Body of retired court employee found in Thane
Thane/UNI: The body of a retired court employee was found packed in a bag by the police in Dombivili town of the district in Maharashtra on Thursday.
The body of Umesh P Patil (56), a resident of Thane city, was found packed in a bag that was abandoned in bushes near the railway ground at Dombivili, police said.
The incident came to light this morning at around 9 AM when some passers-by came across foul smell and informed the police, who rushed in and took charge of the body.
The body had no external injury marks or incisions but internal injuries, police said.
The victim worked as steno at the Sessions Court in Mumbai and had taken voluntary retirement some five years back.
On February 4, he had gone missing from his house at Kopri in Thane and his family had filed a missing complaint with the police.
Police are scouring through the closed circuit TV camera footage in and around the area to get some clues.
An offence under sections 302 and 201 of Indian Penal Code has been registered with the Vishnu Nagar police station.
No arrest has been made so far in connection with the crime, sources added.
