BJP parliamentary board will decide alliance's CM face in Punjab: Hardeep Singh Puri

Chandigarh/UNI: Categorically denying the statement made by Bharatiya Janata Party leader Manjinder Singh Sirsa regarding Capt Amarinder Singh not being the Chief Minister face in Punjab, Union Minister and the state's election co-incharge Hardeep Singh Puri on Friday said the decision will be taken by the BJP Parliamentary Board.

Stating this during a joint press conference with Punjab Lok Congress President and former chief minister Capt Amarinder Singh, Shiromani Akali Dal (Sanyukt) President Sukhdev Singh Dhindsa and State BJP chief Ashwani Sharma here, the Union Minister said the BJP is a disciplined party and decisions are taken by the Party's Parliamentary Board.

"The opinion expressed by Sirsa could be his personal view," Puri said.

While attacking the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP), he said that the leaders of AAP were flaunting the success of mohalla clinics in Delhi, when in reality the health infrastructure in the capital had collapsed during the peak of the pandemic.

PLC chief Capt Amarinder Singh said that when as chief minister, he tried to take on the powerful political elite involved with the various mafias in the state, they turned against him.

He claimed that 63,000 people were arrested for drugs after he set up a Special Investigation Team to look into drug smuggling.

"I put 3,000 gangsters behind bars and some were eliminated. Now, there is threat to the hard-earned peace and harmony in the state. If the voters want economic development, they have to choose wisely,” he added.

SAD (S) President Sukhdev Singh Dhindsa promised that the guilty of sacrilege cases would be arrested. He said only BJP-PLC-SAD (S) Alliance could and would control mafias.
