BJP names new list of 27 candidates, Babul Supriyo to contest West Bengal Assembly polls from Tollygunj seat

Kolkata: The Bharatiya Janata Party on Sunday announced another round of candidates for the West Bengal Assembly polls.

This time the party named 27 candidates who will fight the polls.

Union Minister and BJP leader Babul Supriyo will fight the high-octane political battle from Tollygunj.

The party fielded its sitting MP and actor-turned-politician Locket Chatterjee from Chuchura seat.

The BJP fielded former TMC leader Rajib Banerjee from Domjur. He recently joined the BJP.

Rabindranath Bhattacharya has been fielded from Singur seat while Swapan Dasgupta will contest the poll from Tarakeswar.

Actress Tanushree Chakraborty will fight from Howrah Shyampur.

Actor Payal Sarkar, who has worked in several Bengali movies, has been fielded from the politically crucial Behala Purba.

West Bengal will vote in eight phases starting from Mar 27.
Counting of votes will take place on May 2.
