Jaipur, Aug 20 (IBNS) After a grueling battle with the opposition Congress party, the ruling Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) on Thursday emerged victorious in the recently concluded civic polls.
The BJP won in 1443 wards out of the existing 3351 wards, while Congress stood runners up with their total tally of 1164.

Independents claimed 703 wards, NCP 19, BSP 16, CPM 1 and CPI 5 wards.

The election was touted as an acid test for Rajasthan CM Vasundara Raje due to her alleged involvements in the ‘Lalitgate’.

Though her party succeeded in winning, Raje suffered a setback as the BJP lost in her constituency.

Delighted with the poll results, Prime Minister Narendra Modi took to micro blogging site Twitter to express his satisfaction and congratulate the party workers as he wrote using his Twitter handle @narendramodi “A big thank you to people of Rajasthan. Congrats to Rajasthan BJP workers & leaders on the commendable performance in the civic polls.”

This was the second big win for the ruling party after Shivraj Singh Chouhan, Chief minister of Madhya Pradesh, also tainted in the Vyapam Scam, won in the recently concluded civic Polls.

BJP’s Rajiv Pratap Rudy said, “Both Madhya Pradesh and Rajasthan have seen victory with margins in the civic polls. This mandate is a reflection of the honesty of the BJP in the two states.”

BJP President Amit Shah congratulated Raje and the Rajasthan BJP party workers.
