Bihar: Two dalit youths thrashed, urinated upon in Muzaffarpur

Muzaffarpur, July 23 (IBNS): After atrocities against the backward caste was reported in Gujarat's Una a week ago, resulting in a furore in the Parliament and outside, two Dalit youths were beaten and urinated upon by upper caste leaders in Bihar's Muzaffarpur district, reports said.

The alleged crime took place on July 20.

According to the FIR lodged by the victim's mother, her son Rajiv Kumar Paswan and his friend Munna Paswan were visiting a local fair where they were caught by some influential people, who thrashed them before locking them up in a room. They were charged with the stealing of a motorcycle.

The FIR contains 11 names, including Mukesh Thakur's, husband of Uttari Paru panchayat head. Thakur reportedly initiated the attack and even ordered his nephew to urinate into the mouths of the victims.

Investigation is underway and an arrest is yet to be made.
