Patna, June 29 (IBNS) In a shocking incident the director of a school in Bihar has been lynched by a mob allegedly in front of police.

Media reports said Devendra Prasad was attacked allegedly after two students of his "Devendra Public School" were found dead in a ditch.

He succumbed to his injuries shortly after being admitted to a hospital.

Prasad's daughter alleged that her father was beaten to death in front of police who remained inactive.

"My father went to the police station and took the police there. When the mob attacked him, the police officer did not intervene. An entire group of policemen could not save him," reports quoted her as saying.

Television footage shows the attackers repeatedly kicking and beating  Prasad with sticks for several minutes.

Earlier in the day, the bodies of two students, Ravi Kumar and Sagar Kumar, both aged 7-8 years, were recovered from a ditch near a construction site.

After news of the deaths spread, the villagers vandalized the school and torched two rooms and a number of vehicles.
