Mumbai/IBNS: An Indian Police Service (IPS) officer from Bihar, heading a team of police officials here to investigate the death of Bollywood actor Sushant Singh Rajput, has been forcibly sent into quarantine by the civic authorities, Bihar DGP Gupteshwar Pandey has alleged.

A four-member police team reached Mumbai on July 27 to probe the 'abetment to suicide' case against Sushant's girlfriend and actor Rhea Chakraborty on the basis of a complaint filed by the late actor’s father in Patna's Rajeev Nagar Police Station.

Bihar’s director general of police (DGP) Gupteshwar Pandey tweeted on Sunday that IPS officer Vinay Tiwari had reached Mumbai on Sunday to head the probe team but was "forcibly quarantined" by BMC officials.

However, Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) have dismissed the allegation, saying that Tiwari was quarantined based on the existing guidelines for domestic arrivals at the Mumbai airport, according to news agency ANI.

Earlier, Bihar DGP had said Sushant's death probe should not be turned into a Bihar Vs Maharashtra Police battle and rejected reports that Bihar Police was not helped by their counterparts in Mumbai.

So far, over 40 people have been questioned in the case by Mumbai Police which has also launched its investigation. Those interrogated include the big shots of Bollywood like Mahesh Bhatt, Kangana Ranaut, Yash Raj Films Chairman Aditya Chopra, Karan Johar's manager, film critic Rajeev Masand, director Sanjay Leela Bhansali and others like the actor's cook, who could hold an important clue into the mystery shrouding his June 14 suicide.

The Bihar top cop has also urged Rhea Chakraborty to cooperate in the investigations if she has nothing to hide.
