Bihar Assembly polls witness 52 per cent voters' turnout in second phase

Heavy security arrangements were in place in 94 constituencies during the second phase of Bihar Assembly Election.

Polling passed off peacefully with no report of any major untoward incident in any part of the state.

Both Grand Alliance and the National Democratic Alliance (NDA) had put all their energies and resources at their disposal to get blessings of the people for the formation of the government for next term.

While Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar is the CM face of NDA in ongoing Assembly Elections, RJD leader Tejashvi Prasad Yadav is the CM candidate of Grand Alliance.

RJD had fielded 56 candidates including four women, while Congress had fielded 24 candidates including two women.

Other constituents of Grand Alliance, CPI and CPI(M) had fielded four candidates each. A total of 513 Independents including 45 women were also in the fray for the second phase of Bihar Assembly Elections.

Similarly, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) had fielded 46 candidates including two women and JD(U) had fielded 43 candidates including 9 women.

Vikassheel Insan Party (VIP), a constituent of NDA had fielded 5 candidates.

LJP, while remaining with NDA at the Centre and contesting separately from it in Bihar, had fielded 52 candidates including 7 women, RLSP fielded 36 candidates including 3 women, BSP fielded 33 candidates including two women and NCP fielded 29 candidates including two women for the second phase of polls.

Maximum number of 9 women had been fielded by JD(U) followed by 7 by LJP, 4 by RJD, 3 by RLSP, two each by Congress, NCP, BJP and BSP.
