Bengaluru: Woman killed after wall collapses on her after heavy rainfall

The incident occurred at i-Zed company in Channasandra.

Shashikala, who is survived by her husband and two young children, was a housekeeper. She hails from Shahapur in Yadgir district.

The overnight downpour apparently caused the collapse of the wall.

Police have launched an investigation into the incident.

Normal lives have been disrupted after heavy rainfall over the last 48 hours caused severe waterlogging in several low-lying areas of the tech hub of the country.

Several tree branches have fallen on the road while waterlogging caused breakdown of vehicles as daily commuters struggled to reach their offices this morning in the Indian city, which is already known for its traffic congestion.

The residential areas have been flooded with more than ankle-length water levels seen inside houses as the drainage system of the capital city of Karnataka failed to tackle the crisis.

Reports say clothes and electronic devices of people have been damaged due to the water that entered into the private spaces.

Local MLA B Basavaraj visited the affected areas on a JCB to take stock of the situation which has brought the local administration's role under scanner.

Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), the primary opposition force in the state, slammed the Congress government over the waterlogging.

BJP IT Cell head Amit Malviya said, "Bengaluru has been turned into Venice after just one spell of rain. The Congress has ruined the Silicon City through its apathy. Chief Minister Siddaramaiah and Deputy Chief Minister D.K. Shivakumar have no vision for this global city, except using it as an ATM to fill their coffers. Save Bengaluru. Vote out Congress."
