Bengal polls: ECI lodges FIR against TMC leader Anubrata Mondal for violating rule

Kolkata, Apr 17 (IBNS): The Election Commission on Sunday lodged an FIR against the ruling Trinamool Congress (TMC) Birbhum district president Anubrata Mondal under IPC section 188 (Disobedience to order duly promulgated by public servant) for disobeying ECI's order.

Earlier in the morning, Anubrata Mondal cast his vote in Birbhum and entered into his booth wearing TMC's logo on his shirt.

When he was asked about this, Mondal told IBNS, "This was an unintentional mistake. Why did the presiding officer allow me into the booth?"

Besides lodging FIR against Anubrata Mondal, the ECI has asked a report on the incident from district's magistrate.

Meanwhile, Anubrata Mondal has been kept under 24x7 surveillance by ECI until the election process is over (Till May 22).
