Kolkata/IBNS: Trinamool Congress National General Secretary Abhishek Banerjee on Thursday came down heavily on Leader of Opposition in West Bengal Suvendu Adhikari, terming him as an "empty balloon".

Addressing the media here, Banerjee said, " Adhikari always speaks indirectly and his only job is to resort to false propaganda."

Stating that not even a single charge has been proved against him so far, Banerjee said, "If there's any charge against me, I am ready to go to court."

Dubbing Adhikari as a "date and Twitter politician", Banerjee said his job is only to "resort to lies and heat up the market.

"Every time Adhikari says he will drop a bombshell on some particular date but nothing happens. He is nothing but an empty balloon," Banerjee repeated.

He threw a challenge to Adhikari to prove that Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee rang up Union Minister Amit Shah.

"This is the best chance for Suvendu as the Chief Minister has said she will resign if it's proved that she rang up Shah four times," Banerjee said.

On Tuesday Adhikari claimed at a rally in Hooghly district's Singur that Banerjee had dialed Shah four times to request him to repeal the Election Commission's decision revoking TMC’s national party status.

Starting from April 25, the Trinamool Congress will embark upon people-to-people contact in view of the upcoming Panchayat election under the leadership of Abhishek Banerjee.
