Be careful and vigilant while travelling to Sri Lanka: India tells its citizens

New Delhi, May 29 (IBNS): India on Wednesday urged its citizens to remain 'careful and vigilant' while travelling in Sri Lanka.

Sri Lanka witnessed a massive terror attack on Easter Sunday when eight blasts rocked the 'Island Nation'.

The Islamic State claimed responsibility for the blasts.

"Security situation in Sri Lanka is gradually returning to normal with the lifting of curfew & restrictions on social media and the opening of schools. Indian nationals travelling to Sri Lanka are advised to be careful and vigilant," read a statement issued by the Ministry of External Affairs.

"Indian nationals requiring any assistance can get in touch round the clock with our High commission in Colombo, Assistant High Commission in Kandy and Consulates in Jaffna and Hambantota," it said.

The blasts had left 253 people killed.
