Barkha Dutt tweets in favour of govt, gets trolled on Twitter

| @bloomsnews | Sep 04, 2017, at 09:58 pm
New Delhi, Sep 4 (IBNS): Like many, ace Indian journalist Barkha Dutt too took to Twitter to praise the Indian government after it issued a joint statement with host neighbour China at the BRICS summit condemning Pakistan based terror outfits Jaish-e-Mohammed and Lashkar-e-Toiba, but an aggressive Twitterati reacted sarcastically to her post.

Twitterati was of the opinion that she wasn't playing it 'her way' by  praising the Modi government. A barrage of replies followed Barkha's tweet, some sneering at her post, while some asked her if everything was okay with her.

To fathom the reactions, one must understand that Barkha is a senior journalist who also happens to be a staunch critic of the Modi government.

Over the years, numerous subscribers (both the internet and television) have alleged foul play against her.

She has also been accused of appeasing the Congress party and the Muslim community.

So when "Bibi" (as she is fondly called by several Twitterati members) hailed the news as a great development, a user asked, "How come u have suddenly started to sound like right wingers..change of heart aye ?"

While one user expressed bewilderment at Barkha's support towards India, another said that maybe she was sad that both Lashkar and Jaish have sustained condemnation at a global event.

"You are speaking for India! Surprised I am!," the user said.

"On d contrary she is concerned about Jaish and Lashkar being imposed with sanctions," another replied.

Another reminded her that she was praising the Prime Minister of India and questioned her if she was changing her alignment.

"But aren't u worried tht ur crediting Modiji? Desh Badal raha hai. Barkha Bhi Modiji ki taareef kar rahi hai. (The country is progressing. Barkha too is praising Modiji.)."

Here's some other tweet dissing Barkha:

"Aren't you supposed to be picking holes in every +ve thing done by PM Modi? What happened? @sagarikaghose Pls talk to her. #ForgettingRoots."

"Agreed! What will Ms Radia say? Ms Sagarika must be crying into hanky? Ms BDutt, you are upsetting a lot of people by changing views!"

"Can't undstnd u r mindset, itseems u r happy if their'sno ban fm Chnse side on LeT, JsM. Ru really sick cos a nomal brn dosnt behve dis way."
