Bal Thackeray memorial to be set up in Mumbai Mayor's bungalow: Maharashtra CM

| | Nov 17, 2015, at 07:27 pm
Mumbai, Nov 17 (IBNS) Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fsadnavis on Tuesday said that a memorial for Shiv Sena founder Balasaheb Thackeray will be built at the Mayor's bungalow in the city.

"We decided to set up a memorial for Balasaheb Thackeray at the Mayor's Bunglow in Dadar's Shivaji Park... A public trust will be created to look after the memorial," the Chief Minister said at a joint press conference with Shiv Sena chief Uddhav Thackeray in Mumbai.

The place was selected as desired by the Shiv Sena.

Earlier,  Fadnavis paid homage to Shiv Sena founder and Uddhav's father Bal Thackeray at Shivaji Park, where the leader was cremated three years ago on November 18.

This was the first meeting between the leaders since their parties, the BJP and Sena - partners at the Centre and in the state - faced off in a verbal  battle for a civic election in Mumbai suburb, Kalyan-Dombivali, earlier this month.

In the election, the Sena won the most seats but was short of a majority.

The two parties have now joined hands in Kalyan-Dombivali and worked out a power-sharing arrangement after the civic polls.
