Assembly election: UP Phase 2 and Uttarakhand campaigning ends on Monday

Lucknow/Dehra Dun, Feb 13 (IBNS): Campaigning for single phase Uttarakhand and second phase of Uttar Pradesh state Assembly elections end on Monday evening, with polls scheduled for Wednesday.

Claims and counter-claims filled the air as all parties campaigned in earnest through the weekend.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi during his campaign in the Lakhimpur-Kheri, said to the largest district in Uttar Pradesh, attacked chief minister Akhilesh Yadav alleging slow pace of development in state, media reported on Monday.

On the other hand, Akhilesh Yadav camp has launched a new ‘1-minute manifesto campaign’, according to media reports.

Samajwadi Party workers are visiting every household and distributing postcards with the party's manifesto written on them. The voters have to give a missed call on a number if they like the manifesto and want to support the party. Those who support will get a call back telling them about the party's agenda in just a minute, media reported.

On Sunday, tweeted Modi, "During my travels across Uttarakhand, I saw the strong desire among the people to end the loot & corruption patronised by the Congress."

Same day, Rahul Gandhi said that Modi says he is against corruption but he welcomes those very corrupt leaders whom the Congress has ousted from the party in Uttarkhand, media reported.
