Assam: Two inmates including a Bangladeshi national escape from Karimganj district jail

Guwahati/IBNS: Two inmates including a Bangladeshi national had escaped from a prison in Assam’s Karimganj district.

According to the reports, two inmates including one is Bangladeshi national and another is convicted of murder and drug smuggling had escaped from Karimganj district jail on Thursday.

The inmates had escaped after climbing jail walls.

A police official of Karimganj district police said that, the inmates escaped from the jail by using some equipments which are using in an under construction work inside the jail.

“They had escaped from the jail after climbing walls by using some bamboo sticks and other equipments which are using in an under construction work inside the jail. We have now launched operation to nab the fled inmates,” the police official said.

The inmates who escaped from the jail were identified as Samsul Islam and Nazim Ahmed.

Samsul Islam is a Bangladeshi national and he was arrested by the Karimganj district police after he illegally entered into India.

On the other hand, Nazim Ahmed was convicted in murder and drug smuggling case.
