Assam: Stranger rapes 60-year-old woman while she asked for help

Guwahati, Feb 14 (IBNS): In a shocking incident, a 60-year-old woman was allegedly raped by a stranger while she asked him for help.

According to reports, the incident took place at a tea garden in Assam’s Biswanath district on Feb 13.

The victim woman was on her way to Biswanath civil hospital from Mahuligarh tea garden, but she was unable to make her way to the hospital.

She asked a stranger for help and the man took her to a nearby tea garden.

The man allegedly raped her and broke her two hands and also looted Rs 10,000 which she was carrying for the treatment of her son.

Following the incident, the victim had managed to rescue herself and reached at Biswanath civil hospital.

“The 60-year-old woman was asked for help, but the man allegedly raped her and also snatched Rs 10,000, which she carrying for treatment of her son. She collected the money by selling a cow,” a local resident said.

On the other hand, Biswanath district Superintendent of Police (SP), Rakesh Roshan, said police have already started investigation.

“We have taken the matter very seriously and will take stern action against the people who committed the crime,” the SP said.
