Assam Rifles seize huge quantity of contraband drugs in Manipur

Guwahati, Jan 21 (IBNS): In yet another major haul, Tengnoupal Battalion of 26 Sector Assam Rifles under the aegis of IGAR (South) recovered a huge cache of drugs worth lakhs of rupees containing 19,600 World is Yours (WIY) tablets, approximately weighting 2.05 kg from Permanent Vehicle Check Post (PVCP), Khudengthabi in Manipur. 

A top official of Assam Rifles said that, during regular checkup at PVCP, Khudengthabi on Sunday, a silver coloured Maruti Omini Van was stopped at PVCP, Khudengthabi.

The driver of the vehicle insisted to proceed towards Imphal citing urgency of work.

However the team of Tengnoupal Battalion thoroughly checked the vehicle and found 98 plastic packets duly hidden inside two mattresses.

On questioning, the driver identified himself as Puyam Chalamba Meitei (32 years), a resident of Moreh, and accepted the ownership of contraband items.

After thorough checking and questioning, the apprehendee along with the contraband durgs and the vehicle was handed over to Customs Department in Moreh.
