Assam Rifles recovered huge cache contraband drugs worth Rs 29.88 lakh in Manipur

Guwahati, Nov 23 (IBNS): Assam Rifles troops recovered huge cache of contraband drugs worth Rs 29.88 lakh in Manipur's Tengnoupal district on Friday.

According to the reports, Tengnoupal Battalion of 26 Sector Assam Rifles under the aegis of HQ IGAR (S) caught a huge cache of contraband drugs from Khudenthabi.

On Friday, around 10-30 am, during a routine check, the team of Tengnoupal battalion spotted a suspicious woman moving in an auto rickshaw along with two pillows.

The suspected woman was stopped at Permanent Vehicle Check Post, Khudengthabi by the Mahila Riflemen of Tengnoupal Battalion and was thoroughly checked.

During the checking and frisking of the woman and pillows, 9960 WIY tablets (50 packets) worth approximately Rs 29.88 lakh were recovered concealed inside the pillows.

On questioning, the lady identified herself as Nemneilhing Baite hailing from Tengnoupal district.

The apprehendee has been handed over to NAB Imphal.
