Assam: Police arrest two persons with tokay gecko

Guwahati, June 29 (IBNS): Seizing a tokay gecko, police arrested two persons in Assam’s Biswanath district on Friday evening.

Based on intelligence input, Biswanath district police had launched operation about information that, two youths were trying to sell a tokay gecko to a party of Arunachal Pradesh.

Police had intercepted a motorcycle at Biswanath Chariali area and arrested two persons and seized a tokay gecko in possession from them.

The arrested persons were identified as Shahidul Islam and Furkan Ali.

“We had received information that, two persons named Shahidul Islam and Furkan Ali were trying to sell a tokay gecko to a party of Arunachal Pradesh. We had tracked them and seized the tokay gecko in possession from them and arrested duo,” a police officer said.
