Assam: Police arrest 60-yr-old man for raping minor girl

Guwahati,/IBNS: A 60-year-old man was arrested by police who allegedly raped a 12-year-old minor girl in Assam’s West Karbi Anglong district on Saturday.

The incident occurred while the victim girl was alone at her house.

The victim is a resident of Athgaon Tamulbari village under Baithalangso police station and the accused person is also from the same village.

According to the reports, the incident happened when the victim’s mother went outside the village for some works.

The accused person forcefully entered the victim’s home and allegedly raped her.

He fled from the area after locals came to know about the incident.

Later, the victim’s mother lodged a complaint to the police and got him arrested.

A case has been registered at Baithalangso police station under the sections of Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act.
