Assam Municipality poll to be held on Feb 9

Guwahati, Feb 5 (IBNS) : A total of 2,901 candidates are in fray in the municipality poll of Assam which will be held on Feb 9, officials of state election commission said.

During a press conference held in Guwahati on Thursday, the state election commission said that a total of 14,84,496 voters will cast their votes in the ULB’s elections across the state.

“The election will be held in 743 wards under 74  nos urban local body,” a top official of the state election commission said.

“We have taken all possible arrangements and beefed up security measures to hold a free and fair poll,” the official said.
