Assam govt to revitalize ATCL

Guwahati, Sept 9 (IBNS) : The Assam government has committed to revitalise the Assam Tea Corporation Limited and an effort has been streamlined to achieve it this year end.

Chairing a meeting at his official residence at Khanapara on Tuesday, Assam Chief Minister Tarun Gogoi exhorted the need of revitalising ATCL to pursue its objectives more vigorously and to lend life to sick tea gardens.

Gogoi discussed several issues linked with ATCL and emphasised on evolving a strategy for the corporation.


He also reviewed the problems faced by the garden workers and said that needful will be done to solve the problems.

“We will do all possible to solve the problems of tea garden labourers and we will jointly formulate a strategy to revive sick tea gardens in the State," Gogoi said.

Environment and Forest and Tea Tribe Welfare minister Atuwa Munda, Water Resources and Scheduled Caste Welfare minister Basanta Das, Chief Secretary VK Pipersenia, Additional Chief Secretaries R.T. Jindal, and Shyam Lal Mewara and a host other top officials were present at the meeting.
