Guwahati/IBNS: Assam’s traditional Gamosa, which is a representation of Assamese culture and a symbol of love and respect and is used by everybody irrespective of their religious and ethnic affiliations, has witnessed a surge in its use in the form of face-mask amid Coronavirus pandemic.

In the midst of Assam’s clinical approach along with the rest of the world to contain the spread of novel Coronavirus, few voluntary organizations have come up to prepare face masks using the attractive Assamese Gamosa.

Likewise, Byatikram Women Empowerment and Training Centre in association with ARTFED and Lions Clubs International have taken the initiative to use Assamese Gamosa for making face masks to be prepared by the women of the state.

In an acknowledgement to this noble venture, Assam Governor Prof. Jagdish Mukhi on Monday gave 100 Assamese Gamosa for making face masks.

Hailing this joint initiative, the Assam Governor said that the venture apart from giving protection to the people against the deadly Coronavirus will lead to women empowerment.
