Guwahati/UNI: Five members of a family committed suicide in Assam’s Kokrajhar district on Monday.

Police said that they found five bodies inside a house owned by a person named Nirmal Paul and his wife and three daughters.

The incident took place at Tulsibeel area under Gossaigaon police station.

After not seeing any members of the family on Monday morning, neighbours went to Nirmal Paul’s house and found all family members hanging inside the house and they immediately informed local police.

A high level police team rushed to the area and recovered the bodies and sent for post-mortem.

A top police official of Kokrajhar district said that, the head of the family was running a shop as sub agent of a gas agency at Tulsibeel market area and they were under a huge debt.

“Due to this reason, the family members might be committed suicide. But, our investigation is on,” the police official said.
