Assam: Arrested SSP (CID) sent 2-day police remand
Earlier, the crime branch of Guwahati city police arrested SSP (CID) Dr N Rajamarthandan on Thursday night after confirming his involvement and violation of the government order.
The Chief Judicial Magistrate (CJM) of Kamrup (Metro) district had sent the top police cop to judicial custody after the crime branch produced him in the court.
Earlier, the state government had suspended N Rajamarthandan after he provided investigation process information of the Silapathar case to the secretary of Nikhil Bharat Bangali Udbastu Samanvay Samiti (NIBBUSS) through RTI.
The Assam government had already notified that, CID organization is exempted from providing information under RTI Act as per government notification no PLA.384/2005/54 dated March 8, 2006 and no details of investigation can be divulged to anyone without the permission of the competent court.
Following leaking the investigation information, a case (311/2017) was registered against Rajamarthandan after a top official of CID had filed an FIR at Paltan Bazar.
