Assam and Meghalaya CM pay tribute to Kargil martyrs on Vijay Diwas

Guwahati/IBNS: Marking the completion of 22 years of the Kargil War, which is unanimously celebrated as the Kargil Diwas, the entire country has remembered the heroes of the Indian Army who lost their lives back in 1999 but ensured India’s victory over Pakistan.

Assam Chief Minister Dr Himanta Biswa Sarma on Monday paid his tribute to the braveheart martyrs who went beyond the call of duty for securing the integrity and sovereignty of the nation.

On the 22nd anniversary of Kargil Vijay Diwas, the Assam Chief Minister and senior officials of Indian Army paid their tribute to the martyrs at the War Memorial at Dighalipukhuri in Guwahati and interacted with the families of the heroes who were als present for the occasion.

Himanta Biswa Sarma tweeted – “On the occasion of #KargilVijayDiwas, I paid my heartfelt tribute to the braveheart martyrs who went beyond the call of duty for securing integrity & sovereignty of nation.”

The Assam Chief Minister said that – “Fortunate to have attended the celebrations which symbolise the valiant heroics and supreme sacrifice of our armed forces to secure and recapture the heights Jammu & Kashmir. We commit ourselves to be with our jawans & do everything possible for their welfare.”

On the other hand, Meghalaya Chief Minister Conrad Sangma, Air Marshal Amit Dev, AOC-in-C of Eastern Air Command laid wreaths at Rhino Prerna Sthal in Shillong in the memory of brave hearts who had made supreme sacrifice in operation Vijay.
