Ashoka University announces convocation for the class of 2018 on May 18 at Sonepat

Kolkata / New Delhi, May 9 (IBNS):  Ashoka University, a pioneer in providing multi-disciplinary, liberal education, will host the Convocation for the Class of 2018 at its campus, Sonepat, Haryana on May 18, 2018.  

The event celebrates the academic and non-academic achievements of students who have completed the three year Bachelor’s Degree Programme.

The Founding Batch of the Ashoka Scholars Programme 2018 will also be awarded the Postgraduate Diploma in Advanced Studies and Research.

The Ashoka Scholar Programme (ASP) is a year-long Postgraduate Diploma for students graduating with a Bachelor’s Degrees at the end of their third year. Undergraduates must formally apply for admission to the ASP.

The keynote address at the Convocation 2018 will be addressed by Professor Sheldon Pollock, who is the Arvind Raghunathan Professor of South Asian Studies and a distinguished Professor of Sanskrit and Indic Studies at the University of Chicago. The Chief Guest at the convocation will be Nirupama Rao, a retired Indian diplomat, Foreign Secretary and Ambassador.

At the event, students will be awarded the Undergraduate Degrees and the ASP Diplomas, respectively. The Convocation will also include the academic procession, lighting of the lamp and statements by Prof. Rudrangshu Mukherjee, Chancellor; Prof. Pratap Bhanu Mehta, Vice-Chancellor and Sankar Krishnan, Pro-Vice Chancellor.
