Itanagar/UNI: Continuing it's meeting for the third -day, the Arunachal  Government constituted Consultative Committee on Citizenship Amendment Bill (CAB) on Wednesday held  meeting with various student bodies  of the state  to seek their opinions and suggestions on the Bill .

CAB which  seeks to give Indian citizenship to persecuted religious minorities from Pakistan, Bangladesh and Afghanistan, is likely to be tabled in the Parliament in the ensuing winter session.

State Home Minister and chairman of Consultative Committee,  Bamang Felix today held meeting with the representatives of around twenty student  organisations including AAPSU of the state at DK  convention hall here and sought their suggestions, views and opinions on CAB, an official communique said.

While presenting their views and submitting representations all the student bodies representatives unanimously and vehemently opposed the CAB in a single voice and said that they will continue to fight against this controversial Bill, it said.

The Home Minister clarified that  CAB is  initiated and planned by the Union Government. He, however, assured the  student organisations that the state Government would recommend their collective views to the Central Government after taking into  consideration  interests of the stakeholders of the state if the Centre enforces implementation of the CAB in the state, the release added.

The Minister further stated that the state Government would always look forward and work for the best interests of the people of the state, it said.
