New Delhi, June 17 (IBNS): Delhi witnessed a chaotic scene on Sunday when an argument between a tempo driver and the police took ugly turn as video clips, which went viral on the social media, showed some cops thrashing the man after pulled out a sword on  busy road in the national capital.

According to reports, three policemen have been suspended so far.

Additional PRO (Delhi Police) Anil Mittal was quoted as saying by India Today that the policemen suspended handled the incident on Sunday evening in an unprofessional manner.

The incident occurred on Sunday evening after the tempo driver's vehicle collided with a police van in northwest Delhi. Things took an ugly turn when the driver pulled out a sword and attacked a police officer on duty, reported India Today.

In a video that went viral on the social media, policemen were allegedly seen thrashing a tempo driver.

Political turn:

The incident took a political turn when Manjinder Singh Sirsa, BJP MLA from Rajouri Garden, protested outside the Mukherjee Nagar police station and demanded for the removal of the policemen involved.

"Sitting outside Mukherjee Nagar Police Station for justice. Those DelhiPolice officials should be rusticated right away! Join us in our Dharna," he tweeted.

In another tweet on Monday, he said: "We have got three police officials suspended for their inhumane behaviour. Rest of them will also meet the same fate. Thanking all who came to protest with us.
I have been told @AmitShah Ji has himself ensured action in this regard."

Criticising the police, Delhi CM Arvind Kejriwal said Delhi Police 'brutality' in Mukherjee Nagar is highly 'condemnanble and unjustified'.

"Delhi Police brutality in Mukherjee Nagar is highly condemnanble and unjustified. I demand an impartial probe into the whole incident & strict action against the guilty. Protectors of citizens can't be allowed to turn into uncontrolled violent mobsters," the CM tweeted.

Punjab CM Captain Amarinder Singh also reacted to the incident and posted: "Shameful incident of @DelhiPolice ruthlessly beating up Sarabjeet Singh & Balwant Singh over a petty issue. Request HM @AmitShah to ensure justice."
