Varanasi/IBNS/UNI: An application was moved in the Varanasi district court on Friday praying to preserve the Hindu signs and symbols in the Gyanvapi complex by sealing the entire premises without affecting the survey being done by the Archaeological Survey of India (ASI).

The application was moved by Rakhi Singh three days after the Allahabad High Court dismissed her Public Interest Litigation (PIL) as withdrawn on August 8 in which it was prayed for a ban on entry of non-Hindus inside the Gyanvapi mosque complex and also to direct the Uttar Pradesh government to seal the entire premises without affecting the ASI survey.

The Allahabad High Court dismissed the petition as withdrawn when the petitioner's counsel made a prayer to approach the appropriate forum as per law.

In her application filed through counsels Man Bahadur Singh, Saurabh Tiwari, and Anupam Dwivedi, the plaintiff has stated that during the Advocate Commissioner survey held last year, important evidence was found inside the mosque premises and the Muslim side was trying to damage them inside the mosque.

Anupam Dwivedi, Counsel for the petitioner said that in the application they have prayed for preserving the Hindu signs and symbols during the ongoing ASI survey.

He said that the plaintiff has also sought proper security arrangements inside the premises so that the evidence must not be harmed or damaged by the Muslim side without affecting the ongoing ASI survey.

The next hearing in the case has been fixed for August 17.
