Andhra Pradesh: 7 killed as private bus rams lorry

Nellore/UNI: In a ghastly road accident, seven people were killed and 15 were injured when a private travel bus rammed a truck at Musunuru village in Kavali Mandal in the district in the wee hours on Saturday, police said.

Police said that a truck rammed another truck at the rear end of Musunuru toll plaza. At the same time, a private travel bus rammed the truck at the rear end.

Four bus passengers traveling in the bus, the drivers of two trucks, and the private bus were killed in the accident.

The bus was going to Hyderabad from Chennai when the mishap took place. The front portion of the bus was badly damaged under the impact of the collision.

The injured were admitted to the GGH in Kavali and Nellore. MLA Pratap Reddy visited the injured in the hospital and assured them of all help.

Following the accident, vehicles were stranded for about three kilometers on either side of the Chennai-Kolkata highway. The police removed the ill-fated vehicles from the road and cleared the traffic. The police were trying to establish the identity of the deceased.

Meanwhile, Governor of Andhra Pradesh S Abdul Nazeer expressed anguish and profound grief over the road accident that took place near Kavali-Musunuru toll plaza in Nellore district in the early hours of Saturday, in which seven people are reported to have died and several others were injured.

It was informed that the injured people were rescued and taken to a nearby hospital. The governor offered his heartfelt condolences to the bereaved family members.
