Ananth Kumar unveils GFRG Panel at India International Trade Fair 2014

New Delhi, Nov 16 (IBNS): Union Minister for Chemicals & Fertilisers Ananth Kumar while unveiling the World's largest GFRG (Glass Fibre Reinforced Gypsum) Panel-"Gypwall" at the India International Trade Fair 2014 in New Delhi said that it could revolutionise the infrastructure sector of the country.
The panel is manufactured by FACT-RCF Building Products Limited a joint venture of Fertilisers and Chemicals Travancore Limited, Kochi and Rashtriya Chemicals and Fertilisers Limited, Mumbai. Both are PSUs under Ministry of Chemicals & Fertilisers ministry. 
 
FRBL is now manufacturing the world’s largest load bearing wall panels (12X3 mts and 124 mm thick. They are light weighted with high quality finish and water proof. The minister said all labs including those from USA have tested and approved these panels. 
 
This environment friendly Prefab Gypwall envisages New Construction Methodology for affordable housing. PREFAB GYPWALL is approved by Building Material and Technology Promotion Council (BMTPC) - under Ministry of Housing and Urban Poverty Alleviation. Govt of India, as an alternative building material. Considering the potential of the panels in mass housing projects, IIT Madras has come out with a design manual for GFRG panels published by BMTPC. 
 
IIT Madras has been testing and conducting various studies on GFRG wall panels for the past 10 years. Considering the advantages of GFRG panels to the environment, IIT has Constructed a two(2) storied apartment buildings at their campus, which took only 32 days for completion.
