All steps taken for railway facilities development in WB: Suresh Prabhu
Kolkata, Jun 9 (IBNS): Union Railways Minister Suresh Prabhakar Prabhu on Thursday said his ministry has taken all steps to ensure overall development and up-gradation of facilities in West Bengal which is a very important state of eastern India.
Speaking at at a railway function held at Howrah Station near Kolkata, Prabhu said that he will discuss a proposal to form a joint venture company with West Bengal Government during his meeting with Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee to ensure further development of the railway infrastructure in the state.
Addressing the foundation stone-laying and inaugural ceremony of several Railway projects and passenger amenities of Eastern Railway, South Eastern Railway and Metro Railway in West Bengal, Prabhu informed that railways have initiated joint venture projects across India in association with state governments and local municipal corporations in addition to the international funding agencies and countries.
Prabhu inaugurated and laid foundation stone of a number of projects of Eastern Railway including a Foot-overbridge at Agarpara and Tilbhita stations, dedicated double line between Plassey and Beldanga stations and a new rail-line between Arambagh and Goghat and a bogie manufacturing factory at Budge Budge.
He also laid the foundation stone of Vivekananda Meditation Centre at Howrah. Similarly, different projects of South Eastern and Metro Railways and RITES were inaugurated or commenced by Prabhu.
