Akhilesh Yadav defends his uncle Ram Gopal over controversial comment on Pulwama attack

Lucknow, Mar 22 (UNI) Samajwadi Party president Akhilesh Yadav on Friday defended his uncle and party’s general secretary Prof Ram Gopal Yadav’s statement alleging political conspiracy behind the Pulwama terror attack.

Prof Yadav during Holi celebrations in Etawah on Thursday has said that if new government comes at the Centre, it will probe the Pulwama attack.

On Friday, Akhilesh Yadav tweeted, “The sacrifices of our Armed Forces should never be questioned. To ask questions of politicians in a democracy is our fundamental right.”

Without taking any names, Akhilesh said, “This government needs to stop pretending to be the Indian Army. Politicians who say they cannot be questioned are dangerous.”

However, Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has sought an apology from the SP leader for his comment on the Pulwama attack, which he had termed as a move to ‘insult’ the Indian forces.

Prof Yadav, who was in Saifai, his native place to celebrate Holi, has alleged that the security personnel were saddened on the role of the government and how the government’s laxity took the lives of the soldiers.
