AIFB MLA demands ban on liquor in West Bengal

Kolkata, Jun 28 (IBNS): During a session in state assembly, young All India Forward Bloc (AIFB) MLA Ali Imran Ramz on Tuesday demanded to impose a ban on liquor in West Bengal.

"I believe that our Chief Minister does not drink alcohol. So what's there problem to ban liquor in Bengal? If Bihar government can do this then why can't we?" Ali said.

Other Left parties, including CPI-M, and Congress supported young MLA's proposal.

After coming to power, Bihar CM Nitish Kumar imposed a ban on alcohol in his state. Bihar government has claimed that the decision of liquor-ban reduced crime in the state by 53%.
