Ahead Janata Parivar talks, Nitish meets Rahul
New Delhi, June 7 (IBNS): Ahead of the crucial Janata Parivaar meeting in Delhi on Sunday to arrive at an understanding over the alliance for the Bihar polls, Janata Dal-United (JD-U) chief and Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar met Congress Vice President Rahul Gandhi raising eyebrows in political circle.
Kumar is scheduled to meet Rashtiya Janata Dal (RJD) chief Lalu Prasad and Samajwadi Party (SP) chief Mulayam Singh Yadav on Sunday afternoon.
Ahead of Bihar assembly polls, six parties of the erstwhile Janata Parivar on Apr 15, merged as one and formally became a new party to take on the ruling Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP).
The parties like Lalu Prasad led Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD), Mulayam Singh Yadav's Samajwadi Party (SP), Indian National Lok Dal (INLD) of the Chautalas, Janata Dal (U) of Nitish Kumar and Sharad Yadav, former Prime Minister H D Deve Gowda's Janata Dal Secular and Samajwadi Janata Party (SJP) came under one umbrella of a party and chose Mulayam Singh Yadav as their president.
Sharad Yadav had announced the formation of a committee of the new party consisting of Mulayam Singh Yadav, Lalu Prasad, INLD leader OP Chautala, Sharad Yadav, Kamal Morarka and Ram Gopal to decide on the symbol, name and other paraphernalia.
