Agni-V missile test fired successfully
New Delhi, Jan 31 (IBNS) Agni-V, the longest range ballistic missile of India, was test fired successfully from the Odisha coast's Wheeler Island on Saturday.
"The missile was test-fired from a mobile launcher from the launch complex-4 of the Integrated Test Range (ITR) at about 8.06 hours," ITR Director M V K V Prasad was quoted saying in media.
He said it witnessed a flawless auto launch.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi saluted the scientists, on the successful test-firing of Agni V missile.
"Successful test-firing of Agni V from a canister makes the missile a prized asset for our forces. I salute our scientists for their efforts", the Prime Minister said.
Agni-V is an intercontinental ballistic missile developed by the Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO) of India. It is part of the Agni series of missiles, one of the missile systems under the original Integrated Guided Missile Development Programme. According to DRDO, the exact range of Agni V is "classified" or "understated".
