After Delhi, Uber cabs banned in Hyderabad

| | Dec 10, 2014, at 06:00 pm
Hyderabad, Dec 10 (IBNS): After Delhi, Hyderabad became the second city to ban internet app-based Uber cabs, media reports said.

The move came a day after Union Home Minister Rajnath Singh advised all states to stop the operation of web-based taxi services and ensure that only registered services were allowed.

The Hyderabad road transport authority said Uber has no licence to operate and the public has been directed not to use the service, sources said.

Uber was accused by the Delhi Police of hiring the driver accused of rape, Shiv Kumar Yadav, without proper background checks and therefore missing his criminal record.

According to reports, the records of Yadav included two past rape cases, one case of assault on a woman and an arms charge against the cabbie.

Uber cab services were banned in and around the capital by the Delhi government on Monday.
