Abhijit Chakrabarty appointed as JU VC

Kolkata, Oct 6 (IBNS): The West Bengal government has appointed Jadavpur University interim Vice-Chancellor Abhijit Chakrabarty as the permanent Vice-Chancellor of the institution.

West Bengal Education Minister Partha Chatterjee  told IBNS that after getting the clearance certificate from state Governor Keshrinath Tripathi they had 'issued this order'.

In 2013, Abhijit Chakrabarty was appointed as the interim Vice-Chancellor of  the Jadavpur Universitry and his term was to end on Oct 28.

The  students of the university had staged a sit-in demonstration at the main administrative building of the university, Arabinda Bhawan and had taken part in a big protest march last month demanding Chakrabarty's resignation.

After getting this news, JU students told that their protest would be stronger than before until the state government withdraws the order.
