New Delhi/IBNS/UNI: A minor girl was raped and murdered by a man in Delhi's Bawana area, media reports said.

Police said the incident occurred on March 24.

The man murdered the five-year-old girl and hid her body in a factory, reported NDTV.

The man took the girl with him, after luring her, said police, adding that it was captured in CCTV footage.

After raping the girl, the perpetrator murdered her and concealed her body in a factory.

Further investigation into the incident is underway, said police.

Meanwhile, the Congress has slammed the BJP over the incident, alleging that the atrocities on women have risen under the Narendra Modi-led government.

All India Mahila Congress President Alka Lamba said, "'BJP's slogan was - Beti Bachao, Beti Padhao.' But this slogan changed to 'BJP se Beti Bachao' as BJP is only in the country that gives protection to rapists."

She also accused Women and Child Development Minister Smriti Irani of a lack of involvement in ensuring women and child safety in the country.

Highlighting the rape of the 5-year-old girl in Delhi, Lamba further asked whether Irani, the National Commission for Women Chairperson or president of Mahila Morcha took the pain to meet the victim’s family.
