47 more accused in Palghar lynching granted bail
Thane/UNI: A total of 47 of the arrested accused in the infamous Palghar lynching case were granted bail by the special court here on Monday.
Earlier the court had granted bail to four of the arrested accused taking the total of accused released on bail so far to 105. On earlier dates, the court had released 58 persons on bail.
The District Judge at the Special Court P P Jadhav in his order granted them bail with a surety of Rs 15,000 each.
There were a total of 201 persons arrested in the infamous case of whom 105 have been granted bail and the others are still in jail.
The court posted the next date for hearing as December 18.
Appearing for the applicants, Advocates Amrut Adhikari and Atul Patil submitted in the court that the applicants had no role to play in the said incident at all.
They were innocent and the police had arrested them on mere suspicion the applicants submitted in the court and sought bail.
The court had also rejected the bail application of 36 arrested accused in the crime on earlier dates, stating that their role in the crime was prima facie proved and hence they do not deserve bail.
The accused also questioned the validity of three FIRs being registered for one and the same incident which took place on the night of April 16.
Advocate Satish Maneshinde appeared for the prosecution while Advocate P N Ojha appeared for the family of victim sadhus.
