In remembrance of the fallen brave Naga heroes and to mark the 25th anniversary of the Kargil war victory in 1999, the 2nd Naga Regiment organized a remarkable "Kargil Victory Ride" bike expedition.

The event was held at the WW II Cemetery in Kohima on Saturday, where the expedition team was flagged off from the Assam Rifles Helipad on July 2, reported Nagaland Post.

Led by the 2nd-in-Command of the 2 Naga Regiment, Lieutenant Colonel, the Nagaland expedition team embarked on a challenging journey covering approximately 3700 km, starting from Kohima and culminating in Kargil on July 26, known as Kargil Diwas.

The team aims to pay tribute to the brave soldiers and convey their stories of valor and sacrifice to the nation.

During the flag-off ceremony, Inspector General of Assam Rifles (N), Vikas Lakhera, handed over the revered "Soil of Kargil" to the Veer Naris, the next of kin of the war heroes. In attendance were esteemed guests including Tongpang Ozukum, Advisor of Water Resources, and local MLA, Dr. Tseilhoutuo Rhutso.

Ozukum, speaking as the special guest, commended the Naga soldiers for their distinct character and discipline, emphasizing that their supreme sacrifice would forever be remembered in Indian history.

He urged the soldiers to extend a symbolic salute from the Nagas to the Veer Naris and share the inspiring tales of Naga bravery wherever they go.

The notable event was attended by distinguished officers such as CO 164 Naga TA, Colonel Gaurav Singh, SC SM, CO 2 Naga Regiment, SS Gusain, and other officers.

Currently stationed at their headquarters in Ladakh, Jammu and Kashmir, the 2nd Naga Regiment continues to honor the memory of the fallen heroes and inspire others with their courageous spirit.
