17 killed, 47 injured in Navi Mumbai road mishap

Mumbai, June 6 (IBNS): Altogether 17 people, including two infants, were killed and 47 injured when a luxury bus in which they were travelling,fell into a ditch after crashing into two stationary cars on the Mumbai-Pune expressway early on Sunday, reports said.

The accident occurred near Shivkar village, around 13 km from Panvel city in Navi Mumbai.

Police said the bus was on its way to Mumbai from Satara. .

The bus, running at a high speed, fir  hit a stationary Swift Dzire and then an Innova parked on the service road before it veered off the highway and rolled down a  a 20-foot ditch.

Police investigation into the accident is on.
