15 BJP MLA's suspended from Assam assembly, Gogoi refutes opposition allegation

Guwahati, Dec 7 (IBNS): Assam Chief Minister Tarun Gogoi refutes the allegation of BJP leader Himanta Biswa Sarma that the Speaker of the Assam Legislative Assembly has been influenced by the Chief Minister is wild, baseless and politically motivated.

Refuting the allegation, Gogoi on Monday said that it is really unfortunate that Himanta Biswa Sarma choose to hurl wild allegation against me that I have influenced the Speaker.

“It is a blatant lie. This is a grave insult to the Hon’ble Speaker who always maintains neutrality and impartiality. He has also desecrated the sanctity of the House,” Gogoi said.

Gogoi challenged Sarma to prove his allegation that he has influenced the Speaker, failing which he has to apologise publicly.

Gogoi also hit out at Union Minister Sarbananda Sonowal for his derisive remark that the Assam Legislative Assembly has been turned into a Congress office.
“The comment made by Sonowal against the House is disgraceful, shocking and outrageous,” Gogoi said.

Earlier, the speaker of the state assembly Pranab Gogoi had suspended 15 BJP MLA’s including six Congress MLA’s who recently joined the saffron party, but yet not resigned from Congress for their anti constitutional demand in the winter session of the state assembly started from Monday.

The BJP MLA’s had demanded to the speaker to stop the question hour and discuss about the present law and order situation in the state.

When the speaker refused the demand, the BJP MLA’s had go to the well of house and shout slogans against the state government and Chief Minister.

The ruling Congress MLA’s including ministers also go to the well of house and protested against the opposition’s demand.

Later, the speaker had suspended the BJP MLA’s from the winter session of the state assembly.
