Lucknow/UNI: Days after 12th CBSE Board and ICSE examinations were scrapped, the Uttar Pradesh Government has cancelled the state's Secondary Board 12th examinations on Thursday.

Last week, the UP government cancelled X Board and announced it would hold the XII Board exams in mid July, if the situation improved.

But after considering the situation and announcement of cancellation of XII Boards examination by CBSE and ICSE, the UP Secondary Education Board too cancelled it on Thursday.

Deputy Chief Minister and State Secondary and Higher Education Minister Dr Dinesh Sharma said here that the decision to cancel the XII Board exams was taken by the UP government in the large interest of the students.

Now, over 26 lakh registered students of XII Board examinations will be passed and their marks would be given as per the assessment and pre- Board marks.

On Saturday last, the UP government had cancelled X Board exams and announced that if the situation was good, then XII Board exams would be held in mid July.

The Deputy Chief Minister on Saturday had said that keeping in view the importance of class 12 examination and examination marks on the future of the students, the exams will be held in the second week of July, taking all precautions and following all the rules of prevention of Covid-19 epidemic and social distancing.

Like earlier, the Board this year also proposed the exam to be completed in 15 working days. In the interest of the students, it was decided by the state government that the duration of the question paper will be kept only one-and-a-half hours and the students will be at liberty to answer any 3 questions in the 10 questions given in the paper.

This year, 26,10,316 students had to appear for the class 12th Board examination of Uttar Pradesh Board of Secondary Education.
