Sona College’s Fashion Technology Dept. opens admissions to its 4-year B Tech program

Salem: The Department of Fashion Technology, Sona College of Technology has announced admissions to its 4-year BTech program for the forthcoming academic year.

Science stream Class XII pass-outs from Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics stream with first division and a spark of creativity are invited to apply. The NBA approved programme is complemented by a 20-week, immersive, multi-phase industry internship.

In the academic year 2025–26, candidates with competitive scores in TNEA secured admission to this programme.

Alongside the core Textile and Fashion Technology subjects the finely-honed programme offers abundant exposure to brand building, soft skills, programming, basic sciences and robotics. Students get to choose from a range of interdisciplinary elective subjects, including Japanese language.

The students have the opportunity to immerse in an acclaimed innovation hub that has earned 10 patents. Ongoing projects span textile engineering under National Technical Textiles Mission, Canada’s University Health Network that allows learners to engage in cutting edge research from textile materials to smart wearables with remote health monitoring and curative applications.

The department has had the distinction of 100 per cent placement for every batch of 60 students that has graduated in the past 18 years.

Ranked among India’s top 25 fashion technology institutions, the department’s laboratories are equipped to train learners in apparel CAD, garment construction, and technical textiles complemented by insights drawn from over 40 published patents.

The department is part of the 29-year-old Sona College of Technology, a NAAC A++ accredited (CGPA 3.65) and NIRF-ranked autonomous institution under Anna University. The curriculum is based on insights and inputs based on its strong industry connect.
