Kolkata/IBNS: SPK Jain Futuristic Academy, a Kolkata-based school, recently organised a seminar and workshop on the topic ‘Parenting Challenges in Today’s Global Village’.

Ramya Sridhar, a Primary Trainer from the Association Montessori Internationale and holder of a Master’s degree in Psychology, conducted an interactive workshop with parents and educators.

According to the organisers, the seminar is a part of a series of engagements and activities that will be held by the institute to facilitate experiential learning focused on creating well-grounded individuals and leaders for tomorrow.

Sridhar introduced the participants to the various facets of Montessori education.

She also highlighted the new methods of teaching children and said, “They should never be rushed or put under pressure. Give them time to explore and innovate.”

She also focused on the independence of children and the importance of experiential learning and said that “a solid foundation if instilled in childhood creates well grounded and successful adults who can cope with stress and pressure in the modern world.”

The interactive session also saw educational experts, Darshan Mutha and Satabdi Bhattacharjee (former Principal, The Newtown School, Kolkata), discussing various parenting issues with the audience, offering positive solutions in dealing with child-rearing in today’s complex world.

The session concluded with a question and answer session where parenting concerns were addressed by Sridhar.
