IGNOU launches Certificate Programme in Russian Language

New Delhi, Jan 9 (IBNS): The School of Foreign Languages of the Indira Gandhi National Open University (IGNOU) has launched a Certificate programme in Russian Language which aims to provide the basics of Russian Language for beginners enabling them to read, write and speak Russian language in an accurate manner.

The six month duration programme worth 16 credits is bilingual (Russian/English) and is offered through Open and Distance Learning mode through Self Learning Material integrated with Audio-Visual components, the university said in a statement.

The programme is useful for all sections of society and especially for those engaged in Tourism, Defense, Multinationals, Education, BPO, KPO and SMEsectors. It is equally useful for fresh graduates who wish to go to Russia and the CIS for further studies, said Shivaji Bhaskar- Programme Coordinator & Faculty of Russian at SOFL IGNOU.

According to Prof. Anju Sehgal Gupta, Director, SOFL, “the demand of Russian in India is ever-growing. As one of the official language of the UN, knowledge of Russian will certainly give an added advantage to learners in their respective fields."


The last date for admission is Jan 16.
